Camping Food Essentials - Discover How You Can Have Tasty Camping Cooking

People will often think that if you go camping it means you have to have rations of beans and rice. Do not fear that could not be further from the truth. For camp kitchen comfort you will need to take a little larder with you and stock it with the ingredients that you would use at home. You do have to be aware though that your stock cupboard items need to be camping conscious.

Make your food tasty, it is worth your while taking some strong ingredients as they will add instant flavour to what otherwise may be bland food. You can easily knock up easy marinades by putting glazes and spices in a clean glass jar, then giving it a good shake. Even something as basic as some oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic will add some great variety over anything that you decide to grill over the campfire.

Camp Kitchen

Have some fast food on hand, I am not talking about burger king here I am talking about a convenient fresh supply of fruit and vegetables. Also have cans of have preserved food such as tinned fruit, soup and tuna. You need to remember that being out in the open all day will make everyone's appetite all that more keen. Try and choose dishes that are quick to cook, or something that everyone can muck in to help prepare - this way you will all be happy campers.

Try and keep your camping larder simple, often the products we buy have packaging this is rather big and of no use. To cut down on the weight and bulk, discard the original packaging and transfer either into food bags or small pots. This way your items will be easier and lighter to transport. Make sure that if you do remove ingredients, be sure to label them clearly. Often I have put herbs in different pots and then I cannot remember which is which.

You need to consider drinks also when camping. This is often overlooked as most people see the food as the main theme, this is true but you need something to drink! Purchase UHT milk rather than the traditional milk that needs to be refrigerated. It keeps for month's even years when it is not opened. Once opened you will need to consume with a few days, even less if not kept cold. Make sure you have milk cartons that are one pint each; otherwise you could end up wasting unnecessary milk.

For tea and coffee discard the original packaging and keep tea-bags and coffee in smaller lighter containers. It is also a good idea to get some fruit squash as it goes a lot further than conventional fruit juice.
